Aircraft operations at 4 northern and central airports will be halted at different times on September 7.
Under a decision from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), aircraft operations at 4 northern and central airports will be halted at different times on Septepber 7, due to Typhoon No. 3 (internationally known as Typhoon Yagi).
Accordingly, aircraft operations at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province will be suspended from 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM; at Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong city from 5:00 AM. to 4:00 PM; at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM; and at Tho Xuan Airport (in central Thanh Hoa province) from 12:00 PM. to 10:00 PM.
The CAAV has instructed the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to issue appropriate aviation notifications in accordance with current regulations and ensure absolute safety in flight operations.
For the Northern Airports Authority (NAA), the CAAV has tasked it with overseeing and ensuring operational safety at airports in accordance with regulations.
According to the VATM’s Meteorological Center, Van Don and Cat Bi airports will be affected by the storm from the evening of September 6 until the morning of September 7, with visibility potentially dropping to 1 km in heavy rain and strong winds. Noi Bai and Tho Xuan airports will be impacted by the storm from noon to evening on September 7, with visibility occasionally reduced to 1.5km during the storm, accompanied by strong gusts of wind.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport instructed the CAAV to direct airlines and the Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) to closely monitor the storm’s developments to adjust or change flight schedules as necessary to ensure absolute flight safety.
Based on the storm’s progression, the suspension of aircraft operations at certain airports in the directly affected areas of Typhoon No. 3 will also be considered.
